Description

Hollin Bank Farmhouse is a late 18th-century farmhouse situated on the south-east side of Oldham Road, near Denshaw. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. It originally comprised two bays and two storeys, with a lean-to addition against the right gable and a two-storey wing to the rear. The farmhouse features quoins and a projecting plinth. The central dressed door surround is now largely obscured by a 20th-century porch. Ground floor windows are four-light, while first-floor windows are ten-light with a king mullion and two blocked lights. All windows have recessed, flat-faced stone mullions. Chimney stacks have been removed, and two-light windows are visible on the gable. A dressed door surround is present on the rear wing, which is of a slightly later build, and features three-light windows on each floor. A 20th-century extension has been added to the rear.
