Description

Nos. 4 and 5 Mark Lane are two houses believed to date from 1798. They are constructed of hammer-dressed watershot stone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. Each house is one room deep, has one bay, and stands three storeys tall. The buildings have quoins, and the doors on the left side of each house have dressed surrounds. There are a total of two four-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion windows on each floor, with continuous sill bands. The top floor windows are boarded over, and in No. 5, two of the mullions are missing. Gable chimney stacks are present, and the only windows at the rear are located at the second-floor workshop level, which have long been blocked up.
