Description
Birshaw House is an early 19th-century house located on the east side of Oldham Road in Crompton. It is constructed from dressed stone and features a slate roof. The building has a double-depth central-staircase plan, consisting of three bays and two storeys. Notable architectural elements include a plinth, rusticated quoins, and an eaves cornice. The central door is adorned with an ornate radial fanlight and a flat hood supported by consoles. There are two ground-floor and three first-floor windows, all with square-cut stone surrounds and sash windows that lack glazing bars, although one window has been replaced with a 20th-century casement. The house has a hipped roof and four tall chimney stacks positioned on the side walls. The side elevations also feature similar windows.
