Description

Lock No. 22W, also known as Dunge Booth Lock, is located on the Huddersfield Narrow Canal in Saddleworth. It was constructed between 1794 and 1799 under the engineering of Benjamin Outram. The lock is made of hammer-dressed stone with tooled markings. It features a single upper gate and a double lower gate, with the mouth designed to accommodate stop planks. In 1984, a boatman's ladder was added to the lock wall during restoration work.
