Description

Numbers 45 and 47 Faulkner Street is likely a former textile warehouse that has been converted into a restaurant and other uses. Built in the 1840s, it features sandstone ashlar and red brick in Flemish bond with sandstone dressings. The building has a rectangular plan and is designed in a Georgian style, comprising a basement and four storeys with six symmetrical bays. The outer bays project slightly forward and display channelled rustication on the basement and ground floor, topped with a modillioned cornice and blocking course.

The ground floor includes round-headed doorways in the outer bays, which are surrounded by rusticated surrounds and pediments, along with sashed windows (the basement openings have been altered). The upper floors feature windows with moulded architraves; those on the first floor have shouldered dentilled cornices, while the second floor windows are also shouldered and have 4-pane sashes, except for the first floor which has altered glazing. The interior has not been inspected. This building forms a group with Nos. 41 and 43 to the left and 49 to the right.
