Entrance gateway and gates to former Lancashire Independent College. c.1840, by Irwin and Chester. Sandstone ashlar and cast-iron. Octagonal gate piers surmounted by pinnacles with a gabled archway each side; elaborate cast-iron gates in the centre. Forms group with GMB National College (q.v.), standing on central axis with this.
