Description
8 and 10 Whittington Road are a pair of mid-19th century villas that have been altered. They are constructed of stucco on brick with a slate roof and feature a double-depth plan. Each house is double-fronted and has small back extensions. The buildings are two storeys tall, with cellars and attics, and have symmetrical façades with three windows on each side. The gabled end bays project forward.
Both houses have a Tudor-arched doorway in the center, which has a double-chamfered surround and a hoodmould, although the doors have been altered. There is a shallow rectangular bay window in the inner bay and a canted bay window in the outer bay. No. 10 has sash windows without glazing bars on the ground floor, 4-pane sashes on the first floor with hoodmoulds and raked sills, and a two-centred arched attic window in the gable featuring Y-tracery and a hoodmould. No. 8 has similar openings but with altered glazing, except for the canted bay.
Chimneys are located on the front slope at the junction and on the side walls. These villas form a group with Nos. 4 and 6 to the right and Nos. 12 and 14 to the left.
