Description
The playground wall of St Mary's Junior School, located on the west, north, and east sides, was built between 1855 and 1860. It is constructed of brown brick with a black brick string course and features ashlar coping. The wall is a dwarf structure that includes a gabled arch with a two-centred double-chamfered brick gateway, showcasing decorative elements in black brick and ashlar polychrome. Additionally, it is topped with cast-iron railings that have a simple bipod pattern for the finials. This wall is part of a group that includes St Mary's Junior School, the Church of St Mary on Upper Moss Lane, St Mary's Rectory on Parsonage Street, and the Moss Side People's Centre on St Mary's Street.
