Description
This milestone, dating from the 1840s, is located approximately 600 meters southeast of Hall Lane along the Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal. It is made of stone and features a rectangular post. The front face is dressed while the other faces are rough-hewn. The inscription "M/8 1/2" indicates the distance from Manchester. This milestone is one of a series of eight, each set at quarter-mile intervals.
