Description

This milestone, dating from the 1840s, is located approximately 4180 meters northwest of Kearsley Road along the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal. It is made of stone and has a rectangular shape. The front face is dressed, while the other faces are rough-hewn. It is inscribed with "M/7¼", indicating the distance from Manchester. This milestone is one of a series of eight, positioned at quarter-mile intervals.
