Description

This milestone, dating from the 1840s, is located approximately 180 meters north-west of Kearsley Road along the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal. It is made of stone and has a rectangular shape, with the front face dressed and the other faces rough-hewn. The milestone is inscribed with "M/7," indicating the distance of seven miles from Manchester. It is part of a series of eight milestones set at half-mile intervals.
