Description

The aqueduct over the River Irwell, built in the 1790s, was constructed for the Manchester, Bolton and Bury Canal. It is made of stone and brick and features four round arches that are lined with brick and have flat hood bands. The structure includes round cutwaters, flat piers, and two flat bands. The west facade has a brick parapet that has been repaired. At the south end, there is a smaller arch that pierces the battered abutments.
