KEARSLEY Farnworth CHURCH ROAD (north side) Clammerclough Railway Tunnel

II Tunnel, approximately 280 metres long. 1838 and 1880s. For Manchester and Bolton Railway. Engineer J. Hawkshaw. Brick and stone. Tunnel to north semi-circular, brick lined, with large stone voissoirs. Tunnel to south, horseshoe-arched, lining of several courses of brick. Roll-moulded surround; rubble abutments. Rock-faced band and parapet. Brick abutments to west.
