Description

This is a stone post from the 1840s located approximately 220 meters east of Hall Lane, opposite a milestone, along the Manchester Bolton and Bury Canal in Little Lever. The post is rectangular in shape, with the front face being dressed and the other faces rough-hewn. It is inscribed with "L & Y RyCo," which stands for the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway Company.
