Description
The farm buildings at Harricroft Farm consist of a main barn, shippons, and stables arranged around a yard. The barn is dated 1832, while the shippons and stable range may be somewhat older. The barn features well-coursed and squared stone, while the shippons and stable are constructed from rougher rubble, all topped with heavy slate roofs.
The main barn is L-shaped, with a two-storey southern range that may have originally been intended for stabling. It has three doors, two of which have been converted into windows and one is partially blocked. There is a single semi-circular window on the right side, with a stressed architrave and keystone. Above this, there are two bulls-eye windows flanking a date stone inscribed with the initials 'R.A.', along with ventilation slits below. The return wing at the rear has full-height segmentally arched opposing doors, two windows to the right, and a semi-circular window to the left, also with a stressed architrave and keystone. The main entrance arches feature heavy voussoirs and keystones, while the other openings have flat lintels.
The shippons are positioned at right angles to the barn and, along with the stable range, enclose the yard. They are single-storey structures with central and outer doorways separated by windows; the central doorway has been converted into a window. The stable range, also at right angles, has been significantly altered and partially rebuilt in brick. The interior has not been inspected.
