Description
A pair of houses, originally a single house, dating to 1735 (though the datestone has been defaced). The building is constructed of coursed and squared red sandstone with substantial angle quoins and a chamfered plinth, topped with a stone flagged roof. The house is two storeys with an attic and originally had a two-window front. The original doorway was located on the right-hand side, with a moulded lintel bearing a now-unreadable date. Later doorways have been inserted centrally, which interrupt the original mullioned windows, now altered to two-light casements with the stone mullions removed. A continuous hood mould extends above the windows and doorways. The upper windows have five lights, retaining their chamfered stone mullions. There are windows in the gable apex. Chimneys are located on the end walls. Internally, the partition walls are timber-framed. This building has group value due to its contribution to the local character.
