Description
The listed buildings are a pair of houses located at 591 and 593 Halliwell Road, Bolton, likely dating from around 1830 and possibly incorporating former loom shops. Construction is of roughly coursed and squared stone in small blocks, topped with a low-pitched slate roof. The houses are arranged with a two-window front, consisting of a single storey plus attic and a high cellar, each house being a single unit with a double pile layout. Each house has a doorway on the left side, accessed by steps with simple iron railings, and above each door is a plain overlight. The doorways are framed by simply moulded wooden architraves. To the right of the entrances are two-pane sash windows, with smaller attic windows above, raised by the addition of segmentally arched, leaded dormers. Cellar windows with two lights are set into the walls, some of these additional lights now being blocked. A central chimney stack rises from the roof. The interiors have not been inspected.
