Description
St Paul's School, located north of the church, is a school building dated 1856 and attributed to James Greenhalgh. It is constructed of ashlar stone and features a hipped slate roof. The building is two stories tall and has a three-window range with a central entrance porch. The porch includes a four-centred arched doorway with a blocking course above. On either side of the doorway are four-centred arched windows with carved spandrels, which are topped with drop-ended hoodmoulds. The central window space contains a blind panel that is inscribed with the name and date, along with the initials 'I.H.A.'. There are also four-window return ranges. The interior has not been inspected. This school is part of the development of a small model community created by the Ainsworth family.
