School. Dated 1847. Attributed to James Greenhalgh. Well coursed and squared stone with hipped slate roof. EXTERIOR: single storey, 3-window range with central entrance. 4-centred arched door with hoodmould in porch with blocking course. Tall windows each side, 24-pane sashes in chamfered 4-centred arched architraves with drop-ended hoodmoulds. Blind window space over porch inscribed with name and date and initials 'I.H.A.'. Bellcote on gable. 2-storey 2-window range added to the right, with 12-pane sash windows. INTERIOR: not inspected. The school forms part of the model factory community established by James Ashworth.
