Description

St. Paul's Church of England School (north part) is a building dating from around 1850, designed by John Dobson for the Company of Barber Surgeons. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features long horizontal quoins. The roof is not visible, but there is a felt-covered lantern. The building has two storeys and is arranged in a 1:3:1 bay configuration.

On the south side, the ground floor openings are mostly blocked, except for a central window that has been converted into an entrance and is obscured by a later school building. The first floor contains sash windows with glazing bars, with the three central windows being recessed and arcaded, featuring impost bands and scrolled keys. The inscription "DE PRESCENTIA DEI" is found around the central of the three round window heads, which have hollow-chamfered reveals. The spandrels display the staff of Aesculapius, and the outer bays have keyed architraves to the sashes. The building is topped with a cornice and a high parapet adorned with pilasters and blocks. A high gambrel-shaped lantern is present, designed to provide light for the dissecting table in the demonstration room.
