Description
The farm buildings at Oakley Park Farm are arranged around a four-sided farmyard. The barn, largely of the late 18th century, has undergone later alterations. It is built of red brick on a sandstone ashlar plinth, with a plain tiled hipped roof and a dentilled eaves cornice. The central section is tall, flanked by lower wings. A large round-arched recess is on the right side of the central section, with X-shaped ventilator perforations, with further X-shaped ventilator perforations (two to the left and one to the right) on the upper level, and two diamond-shaped ventilator perforations below the eaves. A stable door is on the ground floor to the left, and there are two windows with segmental heads. A 20th-century flat-headed entrance with double doors is below a cambered arch, with a loft door above, equipped with a winch for a hoist. The flanking wings also have hipped roofs; the wing on the left has three bays, and the wing on the right has two, and they link with the north range of shelter sheds (which are not included in the listing). The south range of stables is also of the late 18th century, built of red brick with a plain tiled roof, hipped to the right, and a dentilled eaves cornice. It has two levels with six openings to the upper level, the two right-hand of which are windows. The arrangement from left to right is: two stable doors, windows alternating, a three-bay arcade (partially damaged), further doors, and an outer window in an arched recess. The buildings are included for group value. The farmyard gatehouse, dairy, and cowhouse are of the late 18th century, built of red brick with a sandstone ashlar plinth and hinge blocks to the doors, with a hipped tiled roof and a dentilled eaves cornice. The building is arranged as two bays, one bay, and one bay, with a carriage arch to the right of the centre. There are two ranges of segmental-headed mid-19th century casements and a stable door on the left-hand range, and a 20th-century doorway and window on the right-hand range. Above the carriage arch is a stone-framed oculus, although the cupola has been removed. A lower three-bay cowhouse is to the right, with five segmental-headed doorways. The east farmyard range is of the mid-19th century, built of orange brick with stone hinge blocks, plain tiled roofs, and a dentilled eaves cornice. Two levels have four pitching eyes and three triangular-shaped ventilator perforations that alternate on the upper level, with a gabled hoist door in the centre. On the ground floor, there are two stable doorways with segmental heads and flanking windows, and a central segmental-headed cart entrance with double doors.
