Description
Smithy Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 17th century. It is timber framed with rendered infill and has a plain tiled roof. The building features a baffle entry plan and is two storeys high. The entrance front has a stone plinth that supports 14 by 2 cells of small framing, with angle braces on the left, right, and four pairs in the centre. There is a door located to the right of centre, with two 3-light 19th-century casement windows to the left and one to the right. The first floor includes three 2-light gabled dormers, each with decorative framing in the gables. There are ridge stacks positioned at the right of centre and on the left. The right gable end displays cruck blades that have been partially renewed, along with a collar and yoke. The left gable end features a brick chimney stack with offsets.
