Description

Brook Farm Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th or early 17th century. It is timber framed with whitewashed brick infill and a plain tile roof. The north-west front features a central gabled wing with close studding and a middle rail to the ground floor, and a 4-light window dating to the 19th century. The first floor is jettied and supported by corner brackets, with similar close studding and a central 5-light window, featuring ovolo moulded surrounds, mullions, and a transom. The jettied gable also has close studding and is supported by moulded corner brackets. A late 17th-century timber-framed lean-to is attached to the right side, with a 2-light casement window. To the left of the central wing is another gabled wing with small framing and angle braces, and dormer windows. The right side has close studding and a doorway at the far right. Inside, the parlour has chamfered and jewelled stopped ceiling beams.
