Description
Moathouse is a 17th-century farmhouse located on Horsley Lane in Beeston. It features a timber-framed structure with whitewashed brick infill and a plain tile roof, standing two storeys tall. The entrance front includes a 19th-century gabled bay on the left, which has a stone lower storey and timber framing above, along with simulated timber framing. To the right, there are six by two cells of small framing, most of which has been renewed in the 21st century. The ground floor has two three-light and one two-light casement windows, while the first floor features one two-light and one three-light gabled dormer, all dating from the 19th or 20th century.
The left gable end has a stone plinth supporting close studding with angle braces, and close studding continues to the gable. Both floors have 19th-century casements with lattice glazing. Inside, there is a fluted and chamfered ceiling beam in the parlour, along with some 17th-century panelling. A door with beaded framing and fluted cornices leads to the panelling, which appears to have been rearranged and likely brought from another location. The right-hand portion of the entrance front was renewed following a fire around 1910.
