Description
Horsley Lane Farmhouse is a farmhouse dated 1664, as indicated on a window lintel. It features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill and a slate roof, and it stands two storeys tall. The entrance front has a layout of six by three cells of small framing, with angle braces on the left, right, and center. There are three two-light casement windows on the ground floor and two gabled two-light windows on the first floor. The left side has a 20th-century brick rebuilding that includes a cambered-headed two-light casement window, with the brickwork painted to mimic timber framing. To the right, there is a gabled dormer window and a three-light window above the join between the 17th-century walling and the newer construction. A lean-to timber-framed addition from the 19th century is located on the right side. The rear of the building has small framing across the entire wall, but this is largely hidden by later outshuts. The farmhouse experienced a fire around 1920, which led to the renewal of the damaged timber-framed walling in brick.
