Description
The Church of the Holy Trinity is a church built in 1842, constructed from red tooled ashlar sandstone and topped with grey slate roofs. It features a west tower with a spire, an aisleless nave consisting of six bays, and a small one-bay chancel. The slender stone broach spire is set atop a three-stage tower, which includes a west door framed by a moulded archway with colonettes, three lancet windows for the bellringers' chamber, and traceried openings for the bells. The nave and chancel are adorned with traceried windows on the north and south sides, a corbel table, and an east window featuring a circular design above three lancets. There are also lancet windows on either side of the chancel at the east end of the nave.
Inside, the church has a west gallery supported by a cast iron arcade that houses the organ. The interior includes contemporary painted wood pews, a pulpit, and a lectern, along with an octagonal font. The chancel arch is characterized by continuous mouldings and lacks capitals, contributing to a largely undisturbed interior reflective of its period. The architect is not recorded, but it is believed he was the engineer for the Board of the Weaver Navigation, and the church was built for watermen.
