Description

The Weaver Railway Viaduct is a railway viaduct built in 1860, constructed from red sandstone, blue brick, and iron. It features 12 round arches to the west of the Weaver Navigation, one round arch between the Navigation and the River Weaver, and 35 arches to the east, which include a skew arch over London Road and a wider arch over the River Dane. The structure uses iron girders with cambered tops to span the Navigation and the River Weaver. The viaduct showcases rock-faced rusticated stonework on both elevations, with tooled intrados to the voussoirs and brick lining within the arches. It has plain imposts, recessed stone copings on plain projecting bands, and plain pilasters with dentils at the imposts of the iron spans. The height of the viaduct above water level is approximately 12 metres, and its total length is around 900 metres.
