Description
The weir east of Hunt's Lock, built around 1890, is a Grade II listed structure located on the Weaver Navigation in Northwich. It features five floodgates and an access footbridge, constructed from red and yellow stone and cast iron, showcasing a Baroque style. The weir includes five sluices, each equipped with gates and raising gear, which are separated by round-ended piers made of banded rusticated stone. The footbridge spans each sluice on a pair of arched cast iron beams and has a segmental fronted platform that faces downstream. Access to the footbridge is provided by a rusticated stairway consisting of 14 steps, four of which have been replaced with concrete.
