Description

The Victoria Infirmary, Old Wing is a house from the early 19th century that was altered and donated by the Verdin family for use as a hospital to commemorate Queen Victoria's jubilee. It is constructed of cream ashlar and features a hipped grey slate roof. The building has two storeys and a symmetrical front with five windows. The entrance consists of double doors with three fielded panels set in a classical round-arched case, complete with a looped radial-bar fanlight above. The windows are recessed sashes, which were originally small-pane but have been changed to four-pane. There are two brick chimneys symmetrically placed on the ridge. To the right, a slightly recessed cross-wing has a three-light sash window on the front in each storey, with the upper window retaining its small panes. The interior has not been inspected.
