Description

Ivy Cottage is an early 19th-century cottage located on High Street, Malpas. The building is constructed of irregular bond brown brick with a grey slate roof. It is two storeys high and has two windows. A replaced glazed door provides access to the cottage. The lower storey has 6-pane casement windows, while the upper storey has 4-pane casements, both with cast iron opening lights. Openings are topped with gauged brick camber arches, each beneath a heavy label formed of three courses of projecting brickwork with three-course ears. The cottage features wide boxed eaves and verges, and projecting gable chimneys. A narrow 2-pane window with a label is set into the right gable end. Inside, a door of reeded broad boards with wrought iron hinges and latches is present. The joists are exposed and steeply cambered in the left room. The cottage is listed for group value.
