Description

The gatepiers, gates, and churchyard walls located to the west of the Church of St Mary in Tilston are constructed from sandstone. The gate piers are square in section and feature a cornice with ball finials, and they are inscribed with "Memento Mori, IP 1687 IL." Adjacent to the gate piers is a sandstone churchyard wall that has a stepped coping and is inscribed with "1688" on the right side. The late 18th century iron gates are positioned below a simple ogival iron strap that connects the piers.
