Description
Ivy Dene is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with alterations and additions made in the mid-19th century, including a renewed facade. The house is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, with pale brick headers, and has a slate roof with a tile ridge. It is rectangular in plan, with three bays, and includes attics. A stone plinth and a string course run along the sides. Brick gable end stacks are present, and the house has a stone gable parapet. The central bay is gabled and features a fluted frieze. There are three windows with stone surrounds and sills, containing near-flush sash windows without glazing bars. A pointed attic window is centrally located below the gable. The front door, consisting of six fielded panels, is set within a projecting porch with a broken pediment and fluted pilasters.
Internally, the house features moulded cornices and beams, as well as doorcases. A fluted pilaster is found at the bottom of the staircase. Semi-circular doorheads, now blocked, are located above doors with five and six fielded panels.
