Description
The Carden Arms is an inn built in the mid-18th century, featuring some alterations and additions. The building has a pebbledashed exterior with a rendered plinth and a steeply pitched slate roof that has projecting eaves and a tile ridge. There are three brick chimneys located centrally and on the gables, with the right-hand side gable featuring a brick parapet. The inn is two storeys high and consists of two 2-bay blocks, with the left-hand side slightly projecting. The northern bay includes an added ground floor canted bay. It has stone cills and heads, with slightly recessed sashes and a flush sash at the rear, all of which have glazing bars. The north wall and rear feature flush casements. Inside, the bar area has moulded beams over the fireplace in the north block, while the first floor contains blocked windows on the south wall of the north block.
