Description
Stone House Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations and extensions made in the 18th century, further changes in the 19th century, and a 20th-century extension. It is constructed of red squared snecked rubble sandstone, with some brick at the rear, and features grey slate roofs. The building has a symmetrical front with a basement and two storeys, including two L-shaped windows, and a two-storey rear wing likely from the 18th century. There is a mid-20th-century flat-roofed single-storey extension at the back and a small stone extension on the right. The front façade showcases a Roman Doric doorcase with attached columns and a pediment, which houses a late 20th-century door that is in keeping with the style. The basement has three-light flush-mullioned windows made of stone, while the lower and upper storeys feature Gothick windows made of wood and iron, some of which have leaded glazing, although some iron glazing bars have been removed. The interior has been largely reworked, but a stopped ovolo beam can be found in the right room.
