Description
The gate piers, gates, and boundary wall to the churchyard of the Church of St Mary were likely built around 1840 and are made of sandstone. The gate piers are square in shape and approximately 3 meters high, featuring panelled sides and plain caps with shallow pyramidal tops. The low boundary wall on the east and south sides of the churchyard consists of two courses of large sandstone blocks with chamfered coping. There are seven widely spaced piers on the east side and five on the south side, all matching the gate piers. The gates are ramped and have spear-headed bar railings. Only the northernmost section of the wall retains matching railings, as the others have been replaced with 20th-century railings. This structure is included for its group value.
