Description
The sundial in the garden at The Willows dates from the late 18th century. It is made of buff sandstone and stands on a red sandstone plinth. The plinth is shaped like a Greek cross and features a double hollow-chamfered moulding. Above the plinth is a turned, slightly bulbous baluster. The octagonal capstone has a fluted frieze and an acanthus cornice, topped with a well-crafted octagonal plate that displays a sunburst design and a simple pierced gnomon.
