Description

The sundial in the churchyard of St Oswald's Church in Backford is possibly from the 18th century and was inscribed in 1832. It features a sandstone baluster with a recess on top of a flat coping that originally held the sundial, which is now missing. The stem of the sundial is inscribed with the names John Hancott and Jos. Waring, who were the church wardens in 1832.
