Description

Chorlton Lodge Farmhouse dates from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. The farmhouse is constructed of red-brown brick with a stone plinth and dressings, topped with a slate roof. It is a three-storey, three-window building, accompanied by a two-storey, single-window wing and an altered, lower two-storey, two-window wing on the left side. The windows are near-flush sashes with glazing bars, set within stone surrounds featuring splayed heads and sills. The central door is made of six panels, topped with a semicircular fanlight containing glazing bars. The door is framed by a recessed panel doorcase, a pediment with modillions, and fluted pilasters with ridged scroll brackets. Brick stacks are present at the gables. The eaves are detailed with dentils and a moulded stone cornice runs along the top of the building. Cast iron downspouts have decorated heads.
