Description
The Pheasant Inn is a former farmhouse that has been converted into a public house. It dates from the late 16th century, with an 18th-century extension and 20th-century alterations and extensions. The building is primarily timber-framed with brick nogging set on a stone plinth, and there is also a portion constructed from sandstone blocks. It features a Welsh slate roof with one lateral ashlar chimney that has brick diamond stalks and one ridge chimney. The south front is two stories high and has five bays. The core of the building has tall, narrow small framing with small 20th-century windows, including one raking dormer, and a new central door with a timber hood. The left end bay is taller and made of stone. There is an added brick range at the rear. Inside, timber framing is visible in the bar area, along with an 18th-century black moulded stone fireplace. The lateral chimney has a kitchen range inserted at the rear and has lost its original surround at the front. A smoking oven is still present in the upper storey.
