1/273 Lych gate to Church of St. Bartholomew.

GV II

'Lych gate: dated 1904 possibly by Bodley and Garner in memory of Emery Bates. Open timber framing on ashlar plinth and Kerridge stone-slate roof. Plinth has hollow chamfered and bead moulded coping. 3-centred arched entrance has carved rosettes in the spandrels. To either side are tall pierced panels (1 restored, 1 vandalised). Tiebeam has inscription in Medieval script (becoming worn) and dentils along the top. Gable has S-shaped strutting and carved rosettes on the barge boards. In each side are 4 more pierced panels (all vandalised) and inside are stone seats down each side.
