Description
Miller and Carter Steakhouse, formerly known as The Old Rectory, is a former rectory built in the mid to late 18th century, with alterations and additions made in 1980. The building is constructed of Flemish bond red brick and features a Kerridge stone-slate roof with two brick chimneys. It has a large rectangular plan and is two stories high, with a symmetrical three-bay east front. The end bays have horned twelve-pane sash windows set beneath flat channelled stone heads, with stone sills. The doorcase has a similar stone head and rusticated jambs, featuring a rectangular fanlight with diamond tracery and a pair of 20th-century half-glazed doors. On the south front, there is a two-story curving bow window, along with extensions to the west that are in keeping with the original design. The interior has no original features remaining.
