Description
The Former George and Dragon Public House, dated 1822 on the rainhead, is a three-storey, three-bay building located on Church Street in Wilmslow. It is constructed of washed and rendered brick and features a Welsh slate roof. The facade includes stone bands at the first and second floors, along with a modillion cornice that is currently obscured by modern gutters. The ground storey has 16-pane casement windows, while the first storey features 16-pane sash windows and the top storey has 12-pane sashes, all of which are topped with flat hoods supported by consoles. The entrance door, positioned to the right, is adorned with a triangular pediment on carved consoles and contains a 20th-century board door with iron strap hinges. The lead rainhead, which is dated 1822, bears the initials RCB.
