Description
Brown Hills is a farmhouse dating to around 1830. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a slate roof, and has a "T" shaped plan with three bays. A projecting sandstone plinth is visible at ground level. The front features a pilaster doorcase topped with an open pediment, sheltering a six-panel door with a partially glazed radial bar fanlight above. Most windows are mullion and transome windows, typically with three lights, featuring an ovolo moulded mullion, stone sills, and skewback heads. A moulded cast iron eaves gutter is supported by widely spaced projecting timber blocks, and there is a decorative saw-tooth course at the eaves. Gable end stacks are present. The interior of the rear (east) wing features bevelled beams. Six-panelled doors with reeded architraves are found throughout, and wide boarded doors, fitted with HL hinges, are located on the first floor.
