Description
This is a multi-use farm building located west of Brownhills, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of red brick in English Garden Wall Bond, featuring some timber framing and a slate roof. The building has two storeys and consists of six bays, with a later three-bay addition to the south. The east side has lightweight, brick nogged timber framing at the first floor level, while the rear (west) side has heavier timber framing with passing braces. The structure includes half heck and full-length ledged and battened doors, as well as hopper windows with segmental arches at both the ground floor and upper windows in gabled dormers.
Inside, the building features trusses with a tie beam and collar, raking braces, and four posts between the beams. The oak ridgetree and purlins are notable, with two of the purlins having ovolo moulded edges and being carved with ecclesiastical motifs. One of these purlins is inscribed with "Thomas Twiss Wardens 1689." The building is listed for its group value only.
