Description
Rowton Cottage is an early 18th-century cottage located in Lower Bunbury. It is constructed of sandstone and features a slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays, arranged in a double pile. The entrance includes a six-panel door set within a stone pedimented doorcase. The windows are flush casements with a single glazing bar, stone sills, and deep skewback heads. The gable windows are small sashes with exposed weight boxes, divided into twenty squares. The side door on the north is made of wide boards and is hung on strap hinges. At the rear of the cottage, there is a small stone farm building that is linked to it. Inside, the cottage has ledged and battened doors on strap hinges, an original staircase with winders, and exposed chamfered beams. The original cleft rafters are also visible on the landing.
