Description
Cranage Church of England Primary School is a late 19th-century school with an attached master's house, featuring 20th-century additions. It is constructed of red brick with stone dressings and blue brick details, topped with a roof of shaped blue tiles. The master's house is two stories tall, while the school is a single story, comprising five bays that include two projecting gables, all designed in the Jacobean style. The building has a stone plinth, stone quoins, and window openings that are dressed in chamfered stone. There is blue brick diaper work present as well. A later addition to the north gabled bay features three stepped windows. The master's house has metal casement windows with lattice glazing set in timber frames, while the school has large hopper and pivot windows. The door to the house is framed, ledged, and braced within a timber frame, topped by a Tudor-arch-shaped lintel. The building features lead valleys, shaped gables with stone copings, and high-standing, divided round and square flues with heavy overhanging caps, all rising from weathered brick bases at ridge level. There are 20th-century additions at the rear (west). The interior is of no special interest, as the building has been fitted out as a modern school.
