4/12 Cranage Church of England Primary School - II

School with attached masters house, late C19, with C20 additions. Red brick with stone dressing and blue brick features. Roof of shaped blue tiles. 2 storey masters house, single storey school, 5 bays including two projecting gables. In Jacobean style. Stone plinth, stone quoins and chamfered stone dressed window openings. Blue brick diaper work. The north gabled bay, which has three stepped windows, is a later addition. The house has metal casements, with lattice glazing in timber frames and the school large hopper and pivot windows. Door to the house is framed, ledged and braced in a timber frame under a Tudor-arch-shaped lintel. Lead valleys, shaped gables with stone copings. High standing, divided, round and square flues, with heavy overhanging caps, rising from weathered brick bases at ridge level. C20 additions at the rear (west). Interior: Of no special interest,the building is fitted out as a modern school.
