Description
The Old Vicarage Hotel is a former vicarage that has been converted into a hotel, dating from the early 18th century. It features coloured, rendered brick with a slate roof and stands three storeys tall with three bays, flanked by two-storey, one-bay wings. The entrance has a six-panel door, with the lower panels being bead and flush and the upper panels raised and fielded, flanked by multi-beaded pilasters. This door is sheltered by a gabled brick porch that includes a four-panel outer door, small side sashes, and a shaped barge board. The building has recessed sash windows with stone sills and glazing bars, accompanied by non-functional louvre shutters. There is a blocked central opening at the first-floor level, and two windows at this level have been adapted to pivot. The main building features a timber eaves gutter cornice and gable-end stacks. Inside, there is an inglenook beam, a few exposed bevelled beams, and plaster cased beams. The doors are six-panel with fielded panels, and there is a geometrical staircase with cut and bracketed strings, a curtail step, and a wreathed rosewood handrail.
