Description
3 and 5 Church View are a pair of town houses dating from the early 18th century. They are constructed of red brick in Flemish bond. While both originally had slate roofs, No. 5 now features large 20th-century concrete tiles. The houses are two storeys high with an attic and each has three bays. The windows are sash style with exposed weight boxes, glazing bars, stone sills, and flat arches that include keystones. The attic windows are casements set in gabled dormers that have barge boards. The entrance doors are six-panel designs with raised and fielded panels, external eaved architraves, wide linings, and rectangular overlights. At the rear, there is an original tall metal staircase window. The houses have gable-end and party wall stacks. Inside, there are six-panel doors, primarily on the first floor, and open newel staircases featuring crossed balustrade members in Chinoiserie style. The attic level has ledged and battened doors.
