Description
Batheron Dairy House is originally a late 17th-century farmhouse, now divided into two houses. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with an old tile roof. The building is three storeys high with a basement, and originally comprised three bays, with a two-bay rear wing to the south, creating an "L" shaped plan. Three-course deep brick bands are visible at the first and second floor levels. Most windows are flush casements, some of which have been altered, and have flat, cambered arches at ground and first floor levels. Two of the second-floor windows retain glazing bars, but the central window is blocked. A sawtooth course runs along the eaves, and there are gable end stacks.
Inside, the house features oak beams, slightly chamfered, and a large inglenook beam. Exposed ceiling joists are present, along with a staircase with a cut and bracketed string and a ramped handrail. The first floor has chamfered beams and wide-boarded doors fitted with strap hinges.
