Description

The Grammar School, originally listed as Sandbach Grammar School, was built between 1849 and 1850 and designed by the architect Sir George Gilbert Scott. This Victorian Tudor style building features red and blue diapered brick with stone dressings. It consists of one, two, and three storeys, with Gothic-headed windows and doorways set in stone surrounds. The steep roofs are covered with blue tiles and include gables and turrets. There are later additions on the left-hand side that are in a similar style but are not included in the listing. The school is set back from the road, behind a large playing field.
